Join us at Gwenyn Hill Farm for a full day of practical, hands-on education, and peer-to-peer connection with organic farmers!
Attendees can select two field sessions total: one from four morning and one from our afternoon options. Lunch will be available for purchase between sessions. Then stick around for an evening of dinner from area food trucks, drinks, demos, farm tours, and live music from the Beth Kille Band! The evening portion will open to the public – a chance for eaters and buyers to learn more about diversified organic farming.
We’re thrilled to co-host this event with Gwenyn Hill Farm, a 430-acre diversified operation located just west of Milwaukee. The land has been in production since the 1840s, settled by Welsh immigrants (“gwenyn” is Welsh for honeybee). Since 2016, the farm has been managed by new (and current) owners, although a fifth-generation member of the original farm family is still involved.
Gwenyn Hill’s team is committed to organic, sustainable production with a strong focus on land conservation. They began their transition to organic a decade ago. Located in the Kettle Moraine region, they cover steep slopes with deep-rooted, perennial plants, and graze heritage breed chickens, Red Devon cattle, and Border Leicester and Cotswold sheep. The farm has broad public connections, selling produce at its on-site farmstand, via a CSA, and at a nearby farmer’s market, as well as serving as a gathering space for many agriculture-related events. Their staff will lead multiple sessions and be on site to welcome us!
