The farming community is navigating a virtual storm of complex challenges and growing uncertainty. For all of us to succeed, we need trust between agricultural professionals and farmers. Join this 5-hour interactive workshop with Ryan Erisman, a farmer, facilitator, and leadership coach who has worked in non-profits and state agencies. He focuses on helping others see the invisible obstacles to change, getting them to truly hear one another, and to find the common ground needed to work together effectively.

This workshop is for agriculture and conservation professionals who work in government agencies at any level, academic researchers, and staff from nonprofits and ag businesses, as well as farmer leaders who provide technical assistance and other expertise to their farmer peers. During interactive sessions, you'll learn concepts and practices to improve your boots-on-the-ground effectiveness helping others.

-The dark sides and pitfalls of Active Listening and Earning Trust

Presenter Bio: 
Ryan Erisman has been raising pastured pork and feed crops using regenerative practices for over a decade. He has supported farmers while working for and with non-profits and spent three years as a DATCP nutrient management specialist. Prior to that he served over ten years in the Marine Corps, leading a 150-man rifle company in counterinsurgency operations in Iraq for his final tour. Ryan has a BA in Behavioral Science & Law from UW-Madison and an MA in Social Innovation and Sustainability Leadership from Edgewood University.
