Come on out to the Organic Grains to Glass Field Day to visit McHugh Farm and witness the unique farm-to-bottle partnership with La Crosse Distilling Co. This event offers a behind-the-scenes look at how high-quality organic grains are grown, harvested, and transformed into award-winning certified organic spirits.
Attendees will have the opportunity to tour Patrick McHugh’s organic farm, where he cultivates Red Corn for La Crosse Distilling Bourbon and other grains. One of the highlights of the day will be a demonstration of Patrick’s composting system. This system exemplifies circular agriculture, where spent grains from La Crosse Distilling Co. are transported back to the farm and processed into nutrient-rich compost. This compost is then applied to his broad acreage, enriching the soil and enhancing the health and vitality of his crops—creating a full-circle relationship between farm and distillery.
The field day will include discussions on organic certification, soil health, and the importance of local food and beverage systems. It’s a great opportunity for farmers, distillers, sustainability advocates, and community members to connect, learn, and be inspired by practices that support both environmental health and high-quality production.
Attendees are invited to take the shuttle bus departing from La Crosse Distilling to the farm and back. Please select this option in the registration form if you would like to take advantage of the shutle.
Following the farm tour, guests are invited to gather at La Crosse Distilling Co. for a social hour. Enjoy a selection of their handcrafted spirits made with the very grains you saw in the field, meet the people behind the scenes, and continue the conversation in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
Don’t miss this chance to see how collaboration, sustainability, and craftsmanship come together in a truly local and organic way!
